Default Switching my S5 aux port setup to S4?

Now we all love S5's, with both their apearance and performance benefits, but you must agree, some systems, like the OMP and aux ports, and the emission (it's easier to get rid of with less associated "problems" ) on the S4 NA are just engineered better than on the later model!

Right now, I desperately want to ditch my air pump, rats nest, and the rest of the crap in my engine bay

My problem: no more functional aux ports!

A friend of mine is getting rid of his whole setup in order to go with an street port/ITB/Megasquirt setup, so he probably wont be needing his.... (and if he does I can still find someone else who needs to get rid of theirs )

So, will the S4 stuff bolt up to the S5 block? Design is about the same on this part, except for how the ports "open" so I dont see why not, and this would solve my problem very well!

Any feedback?

naw, he wants to get rid of his air-pump. NOthing's wrong with this Aux ports.

I feel you on the S4 mechanical issue. I don't really know but let's take a look.

Which makes perfect sense. They are sacrificing safety either way. lol

Yup, nothing is wrong with them as far as I can tell.

PS: I recently discovered pineapples sleeve inserts. Do you guys think that my gas milage would suck too much if I were to just slap those in, remove the actuators, and leave the ports open? I know it will hurt power from reading about it, and driving in town is "supposedly" more tricky, but I dont really care as long as I dont get like, 10mpg o something.

Hmm, I just re-read the rotary ressurection article, and I think I'm going to do this instead!

I dont get two things through: do you still need the electric air pump? Or does that refer to the "other" type of airpump? and it says that since the older cars dont have a way to trigger the conversion, you need the msd rpm switch... but then it shows it being installed... so you need it for the 89-92 cars as well?

Hmm, wierd... but I do like it a lot now that I re- read it again.

use a corvette smog pump and the factory output for the ACV valve for activation. They'll open a little early (2k) but if youre that worried about your ports whatever.

You could just remove them, that would be the best option.

I guess I could, but then I'm worried about fuel milage, and drivability around town.

Shit... what about this? I was thinkig of using a 4 port turbo engine to build a racing N/A engine so you wouldnt have to deal with the wierd ass ports... how would this sound for example?

S5 4 port turbo engine
T2 lower manifold
FD upper intake manifold and a good custom CAI
RX-8 rotors
RX-8 eccentric shaft
Racing beat true dual exhaust
huge "N/A optimised" 4 port street port
Motec standalone and all sensors
brand new rotor housings

this way, we would have a nice 4 port high compression N/A engine with a pretty unrestricted intake and exhaust, a custom fuel map, and wont have to worry about a 4,000 idle like you would get with a Perheral port, or aux ports on the N/A side housings.

I heard that you cant interchange N/A and Turbo side plates and housings, so all this is going off that (fact?)

-Max.
