champagne test results w/ video
well here we go a little video for ya'll. i just did a champagne test as i had a coolant overflow today once shut down, it was fine running driving. it did this once before but i figured i needed to burp the system as its a new rebuild just hit 400 miles. well heres the video from the looks of it and what ive searched here and the other forums this spells EPIC FAILURE of the ol coolant seals. im letting it cool down and i will be doing a cold start and if i get white smoke out it comes. man this sucks.
well just want to get verification from those who've done this and seen it first hand that its f'd. z View My Video |

little more traffic on the other forums oh well.... upon more inspection testing i have rented a coolant pressure tester and results not so good.
dropped 7psi in 20 min and when started cold does a faint white smoke its honestly hard to tell but there is moisture slightly misting out the tail pipe i have video if you want. looks like the motors coming out to be restacked with new soft seals, as i will be taking great care to return all hard seals to thier exact spot of removal for less breakin time 2nd round. i will also be purchasing a digital compression tester the one that hooks to a laptop for logging. i forget who makes them but ill find and post unless someone else can link for me? z |

I had coolant bubbles in a fresh rebuild was those damn rotary aviation o-rings. Had the motor pulled back apart and oem's put in and all was fine. When I had the bubbles the car would start up and run fine the issue was it may run fine for a 2 hour drive plus and back home but sooner or later the bubbles pushed enough coolant into my over flow tank leaving air around the therostat. So the next time I started it up it would not open and soon over heat (or start to). I tried everyhing and ther was never ant sign of colant in the exhaust. It was always getting pushed into the overflow tank that would drip out when I went for a drive. Never saw any in the garage. Best of luck to you. BTW what oring brand are you using? not the round aviations?

im not entirly sure i got the motor from a forum member on the other forum im going to try and find out but itll be easy enough to tell once dissasembled. and thats what i was looking into as well is which seals cause i dont see any problem with oem mazda orings. id rather use the oem orings and experiment with apex seals.
