Default Chassis Overhaul

I'm planning on redoing anything involving the handling of my vehicle. This includes:
- braking system
- suspension
- mounts (tranny, engine, diff, ??)
- bushings

Basically, I want to replace any wear item.

Here's the list of what I have so far (listed as: Part, Quantity needed, and Part #).

I also notice on the Energy Suspension kit, nothing they have listed is on my list.

Includes: Front and rear control arm bushings, front and rear sway bar bushings, ball joint and tie rod end boots.

Do I have those, just under a different name?

I am sure that some of the parts you listed are in fact in the Energy kit. So that should make things a little easier, and cheaper!

Yeah, what I have there came out to $3335.35. But that's including a couple things that I obviously won't buy at Mazda, like a $470 caliper (brand new, last one in the country).

However, even without some of the ridiculous stuff, it's still well over $2k just for that, no including the springs, 2 calipers I've already bought, etc.

Since I apparently have another thread just like this.... I'll just take that post and put it here even though it deserves it's own thread.

As is obvious, I'm redoing my subframe/suspension area (rubber, bushing, etc.) and I'm curious about some things. Basically, I need all the rubber and ordering it through Mazda is expensive as hell. I've looked at kits such as Energy Suspension but I'm not sure which pieces they can be substituted for.

Mazdatrix has quite a few kits (which I've emailed them about and have yet to hear back).

Anti-Sway Bar Bushing Sets
- One set needed to fit the Front bar. 24mm bar only.
- One set needed to fit Rear bar (14mm bar only)

Front or Rear Sway-Bar End Link Bushings
These are pressed into the stock links (86-88 only) to replace the factory rubber bushings. One set needed per end of car.

Front Lower Control Arm Bushing Kit (86-92)
This is a really good kit that contains the bushings needed for the front and the rear pivots of the front control arm. The inner diameter has the "barb" shape to conform to the OEM arm. Complete with the needed steel sleeves and bushings to do both arms.

- Front Lower Control Arm Bracket

Rear Lower Control Arm Bushing Kit
This kit does the front pivots of the rear lower swing arm. Complete with bushings and sleeves to do both arms.

HYPER-FLEX SYSTEM Complete Master Bushing Set (Energy Suspension):
- Front and rear control arm bushings
- Front and rear sway bar bushings
- Ball joint boots
- Tie rod end boots

I think the 'other 2 hub bushings' are the DTSS bushings. The other ones are most likely Mazda only and require a press to replace.

Just start ripping it apart!!

Yeah, dude, unlike an enigine rebuild, with thechassis, I would just order the hyper flex system, some DTSS eliminators, Stance coilovers, chamber adjusters, and a steering angle kit. Then I would just strip the car of everything, clean stuff up, and put everything back together with the new parts. As I am doing this, I would see what I actually NEED to get that I dont have yet, and just order those parts.

Banzai racing sells some really nice engine & trans mounts, and I would also recomend the solid front differential mount with some new rear mounts. The front one is the one that makes all the difference, the rear two are meh.

Heres some more stuff:

calipers: get em from autozone, and get the FD ones, they are the same mechanically, and even bolt up the same, just that the FD ones look nicer. people o this a lot who have the $$$.

SS brake lines?

EDIT: and since it will take you WAY longer than a day to do all this, I would not worry about "Having all the parts ordered before you begin work" as it will likely not matter since you will spend like a week at least on this.

OH yeah, get your suspension stuff powdercoated, that would be sick!

Do it little by little. The money will add up but if spaced out correctly will not be too much of a drain.

Does Mazda still offer the racing program % cut on their prices still?

You may want to look into that.

I'll talk to you more about suspension later, some of that stuff you may not want to do.

I'd have to be a racer for that. A lot of what's on there I think comes in the Energy Suspension kit so that's a lot of money taken off. Some stuff I just need to get, like the mounts on top of the springs. Those need replaced and I can't buy those parts aftermarket.
