Default Racing Brake FD3S

Hope I have the right section (if not please let me know).

Does anyone here run the Racing Brake set up on their FD3S RX7? interested to hear feedback? have looked over on the gay forum and read all 60 odd pages and contacted RB directly about an order. Any more feedback would be appreciated greatly.

Hey Rice, sorry i can't help you on the feedback. but i searched a lot for which brake sys. to go with and it was my choice. their website has a lot of info on this sys. and there are a lot of people that were speaking highly of them on the other forum. i know this feedback is not what you are looking for but i have not installed mine yet since i'm gone.

^ Hey thanks for the reply ,

I have pretty much come to the same conclusion as you, though I have not paid for my order yet as they are out of the open slot rear rotors and its another 8 or so weeks till they ready. I liked the open slot and cool running others have reported along with low disk wear rate too.

It's either this for me or Project Mu 2 piece slotted new front and rear rotors for my 1995 SP (which is the bigger brake set up found on later RX7's as these were developed for the M1020/SP prototypes originally).

I have the RB open slots.. but haven't installed it yet..

Also, I'm working with E&J in Miami and DBA to come up with a new brake system for FDs. E&J will be making the calipers (either 6 or 8 piston) and DBA will be supplying the rotors. Current price point is to be under 2K for front only. Rotors are DBA 5000 series two piece slotted (or drilled).

It all depends on what you are doing with the car. If street and mild track duty is what you need, the OEM caliper with upgraded disks, pads and fluid is more than enough.

If you want to track seriously, then the Racing Brake kit is an option.

We have plenty of brake data on the FD depending on what you are doing with the car.

I'm all ears

My requirement is I (due to the rareness of my car) want to keep the original BBS 17" wheels (I have 2 sets of these wheels) and whatever upgrade I pick fits within these curved spokes.

If people would like to post up the alternatives they offer that would be great. I can change the thread title too

The other thing for me *may not be the case for others* is I don't want to change the brake balance as my car came fitted with the larger spec brakes as stated. My car is a road car that gets taken to the track, I am very hard on brakes so despite it not being a "race car" I want the best system that I can fit within this wheel that will take race car type loads. Sustained 1.1 to 1.3G deceleration on high performance road legal tires is what I am after, my car has around 450bhp and 3000lb mass, and it does 140mph on most decent tracks so there is quite a bit of energy that needs to be converted to heat

I have a magazine article here of the FEED RX7 in Japan and they simply run an aftermarket front rotor and rear rotor using the original Mazda calipers and their own branded brake pads (obviously made by large brake company) I need to look more into it but the rotor looks like a Project Mu pro SCR with a custom anodized alloy hat front and back.

I am ready to upgrade my front 2 piece RB OE rotors for a front BBK.
RB is offering me a 10% discount on their version 1 kit which is what you have.

Have not made my mind up yet on them at $1800 or get the version two at $2200.

Are you going to sell yours?

Hey Chuck.

Well, I'm probably not going to sell them as of yet. If I do, I have a local guy who already called dibs.

But I'm waiting on a custom hats for the Alcon kit that I have. If that doesn't seem promising, I'll be putting the RB kit on my FD. As of now, i am very happy with the RZ kit I have on the car... which will later go on the SSM FD.

I like my current setup which is the RB 2 piece OE front and their rear 2 piece BBK. Even though this is beter than stock and stops very good, it does fade a little after a 140mph+ stop. After a normal slightly fast drive, the fronts are a little blue in the middle.

The Carbotech AX6 are better the HAWK HP+ for the above driving.
