OK, As of now I have one MS hood that I could borrow to make this hood and I'm also in works to get one from SF, CA so I don't have to worry about if something happens to the one that I'll borrow.

This project is definitely a go, just matter of my fabricator having free time.

I'll keep you updated...

PS. I was contacted by a fellow DGRR attendee who's also interested in making mold and the hood.. So, there are others interested in making this hood. Please be patient as I have DGRR to organize and my cars to build.

I wanted to ask if the hood pins on these were going to be reinforced? I remember mazda sent out a warning to anyone that bought the hoods to bring them in to a mazda dealer to have them "serviced" ... if I remember correctly they ended up adding reinforcement rivits and a backing plate possibly to the inside of the hood pin. They did these upgrades from the factory on the new style mazdaspeed hood. Hopefully this can be done to the hoods that you are going to make as I would hate to have to run hood latches/pins (they look horribly tacky).

Heath,

Funny you mentioned that.. i just found out about that and picked up some documents about fixing that problem.

Far as hood GB.. At this point, my fabricator has said OK on the project and will be picking up another hood from someone else on the forum. He came by to look at my hood and he preferred one that's painted vs. CF. But he definitely told me that the hood WILL BE produced.. It will take about a month to make the mold of the hood and another couple of weeks to make one and test fit. I will keep you guys updated..

Mean while, please post if you are interested in CF or FG.

I too would be interested in a CF Mazdaspeed hood. I will have to see what funds are like when you have them made tho. Cash is a bit tight for me right now, but I am interested!!

hey phil, i have an off question, would you know what your fabricator is planning as far as having the finished product raw FG/CF or primered/painted?

Ive always liked that hood however never cared for the 'fin' down the middle, i know why its there but i would prefer it to be raw so i can further modify it without taking off an preexisting finish.

shipping to canada would be the deal breaker but at the prices youve mentioned i would also be in so far for a FG one.

I'd have to go with FG, no nozzles. It would require two molds, maybe, so if the concensus is no nozzles - great, if not, I can handle a little 'glassin to make 'em go away

depending on price id prefer to get cf and paint (assuming cf will infact be stronger). As far as my comment before, i want to make sure structural integrity of the mounting/latching pints is addressed as it was even a problem for mazda that promoted dealer recalls of the hoods

classic mazdaspeed is the better of the two IMO. But neither will fit my car at this point.
