				2004 ecu swap for a 2008 ecu

Is it possible to swap a 2004 ecu for a 2008 one without flashing anything ?

I have a 2004 ecu and a got a brand new ecu from a wrecked 2008 rx8 Will it block my car ? because of some safety feature ? imobilizer maybe. will it change the millage ? Thanks |

They willnot interchange without removing the immobilizer from the 2004 ecu. It will them work with your 2008 RX8.

I think new ones have extra memory, so if i have one siting quietly in the shelf, why not install it.

Where did you hear that? As far as I know the 04 pcm is the same as the 08. It might have a different flash, but that's something the dealer can update for you if it was needed. Or buy a Cobb accesport and learn how to tune it yourself or have a tuner do it for you.

You can't even swap an 04 for another 04 without re-programming it....
