Today I reworked the oil pan so the motor will sit lower in the frame and clear the steering link .Tomorrow I will finish it and take some pictures .

Today I finished the pan .I can now mount the motor farther to the rear and lower in the frame .I plan to use a larger oilcooler than stock to make up for the loss of volume in the pan .I made the pictures on a spare motor in storage then mounted it to the motor with The Right Stuff and my Garfinkle oil pan brace . The oil pickup tube was shortened 1 inch and the scrap was used to reinforce the joint .That way nobody will say that will break apart .Next is making the subframe for the motormounts to sit on and the tranny mount. When that is done any one could finish this project to the power level they want .I will work on it again in a week or so ,I need to work on a 3rd gen this week end .

have you thought of putting a can of sorts or accumulator in line to the cooler post thermostat to make up for the lose of oil? personally i wouldnt feel good about that loss of oil especially in a rotary unless your big cooler is the size of a radiator to make up the volume loss.

If I finish the car then the cooler will be big enough to do the job .The pick up will be well covered and not suck air .The oil level will be higher around the housings to pull out heat as well .My car has 17 tubes through the oil pan for cooling and the oil level is higher on it with good results .The pan is brazed .I have been making motorcycle tanks and oil tanks for years by brazing them, my 94 has a oil tank in it that is brazed .

Brazing is actually a very effective way of making a good seal between two thin metals. Especially if you have a talented brazer. They use brazing on low to medium pressure systems, so I would be very confident that it can hold up to gravity.

Today I put in the new rear shocks and the front and rear lowering springs .The subframe/motormount is about finished .After that is done I will make the tranny mount .
