Brazing rear iron dowel on S4 13BT??
I have heard of earlier tuners doing it before the 13REW came out.
Anyone here done it OR seen it?

I'm sure you'd have better luck picking up a S5 or REW rear iron.

just ordered a brand new S4 rear iron that comes from Mazda with the updated FAT casting.

Mazdatrix told me so.
![]() They also recommended I replace my rear rotor housing becasue they state every rear iron break they have seen causes the rear rotor housing dowel hole to "oval". I asked for some measurement tolerences from them since the FSM doesn't specify. I am awaiting a response. Since I have a hair line crack and I pushed 17 psi once on low compression rotors when my WG went tits up(15.4 psi is my normal boost), I am skeptical that my rotor housing is "stretched". I guess I will see once I pull it apart.

Yep at this point, all of the OEM stock is the later casting/thicker casting babies.
Interesting point about the ovalling of the dowel land in the housing, never thought about that but it seems to make sense - check it for sure though ![]() Oh and have fun with the OEM iron's ports ![]() |
