Converting a radiator to v-mount?

I want to run a v-mount but, I dont really want to buy the kits that are out there. I have a front mount right now and a koyo radiator and I was thinking about modifying them so I could run them in v-mount. I have a welder so I can have him help me weld the brakets and any other modifications that are needed.

Well, I actually have a question about the radiator. What needs to be cut off and modified in order for me to run it in v-mount? I'm actually quite puzzled and I can't find any info on how a radiator actually works. I know there are end tanks, but that's basically all I know. Can I possibly take a stock mount radiator and convert it into a v-mount?

Also, where should I have the intercooler and radiator mount to?

Thanks for the help!!!!

Make the Koyo into a double pass unit. That will make your life easier as far as routing of tubing.

How do you do that? Mind telling me how you did that? Did you cut off one of the end tanks or did you just weld it shut?

why do you want a v mount?

a front mount intercooler with an upright rad behind it is by far the best config for airflow!

haha... sarcasm at it's best.

What FMIC do you have? I would think most FMIC would be too large to fit. However, I believe Jason at the RX-7store.net made one out of the cheapest Greddy core. To give you a better idea, see this thread: http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=719487

I've also got a Greddy core. I was just wondering if I could just customize it and turn it into a v-mount.

See the thread I posted above. It shows plenty of pictures of the process Jason went through and what modifications he made.

I think I'm going to send them my intercooler and my radiator and have them modify it.

Ive got a V-mount intercooler with no Radiator that im selling if you might be interested. It will need brackets and such too and custom fitting but its alot farther along than you would be starting from scratch with a FMIC. PM if your interested.
