spark plug wires
Ive been having a problem with starting my car and idleing when its hot. most recently ive noticed It misses once in a while. Ive changed the coils, spark plugs, coolant temp sensor, intake air temp sensor, all fuel injectors, bypass air control valve, and starter. The only thing i havent checked is the spark plug wires. I just looked at them a few minutes ago though and noticed there is a white powder on them underneath the plastic tubes that cover each one. They are the original wires from 1987. is this a plausible thing that could possibly be my problem.

White powder is bad.
That's a sign that it's arcing. More accurately, it's arcing inside the boot. That means there's no secure connection from the coil tower to the spark plug wire connector - it's arcing to make this connection. -Ted |
