New toy...
Picked up an 84 SE a few days ago. Still has the 6P 13B stock.
Mods on the car: RB holley intake with new Edelbrock 600 RB street header system, with unknown rear muffler New radiator and hoses, thermostatic controled E-fan DLIDFS (3 gm HEI modules and 3 MSD Blaster coils) New Falken 512 205/60-14 on stock SE wheels All of this stuff has been added in the last 2 years, none has more than 50 miles on it, except exhaust and intake manifold. The following was included, but not yet installed: New slotted brake rotors (4) New front and rear pads Stainless brake hoses Carter fuel pump Pair of door windows, tinted to match the rear hatch glass installed to delete rear wiper. Complete S3 dash, in good condition, to replace the ripped dash in the car. Also came with a holly 600 vac sec, and a holley 650 DP. The price? Cost of fuel for the 200 mile round trip. (~$50) The car belonged to a guy I know that's in the service. He was getting transfered, and this car wouldn't run, so he couldn't take it back to his home state. He did, however, get the FD back home. When I picked up the car, it would barely start and run. The carb had issues, and the dizzy was retarded 1-2 teeth. Both are now resolved, aside from minor tuning left to do. The front pulley is 1/4 turn off, so I need to correct that before I can finish tuning it. It runs like a raped ape, aside from not idling very smooth. I know plenty of guys are at me right now, for scoring such a great deal. I can live with that...... |

Pics aren't easy, as my camera died. It's just a Persimmon red/red rattle can primer patchwork of color, on a fairly straight body. Heres a couple pics from the previous owner, with the car sitting in it's former parking spot of ~2 years....
These were just taken a couple days before I picked it up. The aluminum spare is no longer on the car, as I aired up the other tire and put it back on. |

It will probably replace my 12A car as the autox car. I know the 12A car has likely seen it's last track day. I have enough time, money, and effort in it, I'd hate to risk it at the track. This one, on the other hand, I have almost nothing invested. It wouldn't bother me nearly as bad if something were to happen.
I kinda wish I had held off on installing the coilovers on the other car. The strut housings that came with the rest of the coilover stuff, were from a GSL-SE. Oh well, I can always order another set, and use those housings. In the meantime, I do have those ST springs that I can make do with. |

Why?
The car is still in pretty much the same shape now as it was 2 years ago. Prolly cause it hadn't been driven since Oct 08 till today, when I took it rallycrossing. Imagine my surprise to find this thread had been bumped to the first page. Now I don't have to hunt it down...... |
