help picking a clutch
im turboing my 85 12a and i need to pick a clutch that will last. its for street driving and maby some track use.
are the F1 clutches eney good? i've seen one kit that has a light flywheel. |

i would say centerforce duel friction clutch would be good.. but that will also depend on your horse power goals.

i think i should be about 150-175 hp and 200-230hp when i build a new engine next year.

I've been using the Racing Beat heavy-duty clutch disc with an 8 lb. flywheel and stock pressure plate (would've preferred an RB street/strip pressure plate, but I didn't have one handy at the time). It's very easy to drive and grabs pretty well.

9 pound aluminum flywheel, HD disc, street strip pressure plate. This setup takes me a few seconds to get used to it if I've driven something else recently. It feels like a light steel in weight because there is a Camden on the engine. The disc is grabby but also very easy to drive. The extra effort of the SS pressure plate is what takes a few seconds to get used to.

im thinking about a sprung 4 puck disk and a street strip plate. if i do i dont think ill have the $$$ to change the flywheel at this time.

You probably won't like to drive it in bumper to bumper traffic. Fortunately your stock flywheel will take some of the abruptness out of it, making street driving possible. It's till gonna suck though... maybe.
![]() You might try to look for a 6 puck. They're more streetable and still have high clamping force for the big boost numbers you're going to run. |
