Exclamation 1st Gen 83 gsl from pensacola florida

Made a major move from old school muscle to the rotary world. This is .y first rotary and i love it dearly. The only thing i can b@#%& about is that i am to tall for itlol. I will post pics later looking to do light mods as i dont wa.t to take away from the integrity of the car. Xould use suggestions . I amm currently trying to get ny u joins replaced as it cant be done at hom due to the anchoring that mazda thought was a good idea. Any how look forward to tech talk and tips.

there are a LOT of write ups, walk throughs, and tech threads for the first gen. This site has much info for the first gens What is the end product you intend to have? many different mods to make the car behave differently in the end.

well red. Utimatly i would like to go with a small turbo. From there i wouldnt know what else to do. i am having a hard time finding after market parts for the caburated motors. Yes they are out there but they arnt cheap at all. i am honestly thinking about building my own stuff such as exhaust, headers, and so on. just got to get my a$$ in gear and get started!!!

Not sure if you are a purist or not and wanted to keep the OEM 12A motor in it. . . but motor swaps are an option too from latter generation RX7 chassis (but do require much work). many people have actually put the 13B REW from the 3rd gen RX7 into their 1st gen's.

i would start by avoiding upgrading to the turbo, modify things with turbo being your goal and hopefully buy upgrades that you can use for the turbo down the road.

finding a competent carb tuner for rotaries is probably going to be your biggest problem, and of course the ignition will also need to be upgraded to handle it. most people just swap in later model engines as R1 mentioned.

most later model engines will fit just fine by using your existing front cover to mount the engine and a GSL-SE oil pan to clear the crossmember. the shifter either needs to be notched to clear the chassis or modified to move it forward 4+ inches with the turbo transmission(also requires a modified driveshaft and/or upgraded diff).

red i like the idea of the 3rd gen upgrade but i think either way i go it might just be easier to leave my first gen alone and then get a 2nd or 3rd gen to play around with
