Default I got an engine issue

I am pretty sure I have a stuck apex seal. Engine has about 25K miles on it. Because of issues beyond my control I had to let my RX-7 set for 9 months. What is the best way to get the carbon build up cleaned up?

One of my friends was buying engines from the junk yard and if they were rotating he would put brake fluid in the chambers and spin them by hand then with a starter leaving a spark plug out of each chamber .Some had low or no compression before doing this, most of them ran well after the cleaning .He had a test stand to put the motor and a tranny on .He would do the cleaning and start the engine on the stand .

I don't know what would be best to use but I wouldn't try brake fluid it may eat the oil control o-rings and coolant seals since they are not made for that type of fluid. Does the car run? or just crank with no compression? if it will run I would prob use seafoam or try to use H2O and steam clean it

not real likely because of this:

if all it did was sit for 9 months, assuming you didn't take any storage precautions, put some oil or MMO in the chambers and turn the engine by hand before trying to fire it. if you did take precautions before storing it, you should be fine.

Don't use brake fluid. If anything, use ATF or MMO.

If its running OK then I would just drive it carefully for a tank or 2 to make sure that everything is good, and a bit of premix won't hurt it though. my FD has been sitting most of the winter but I am getting it out and ready for a dyno tune on the 15th and DGRR shortly after.

mines been down too for a few months.

What fuses do I need to pull to build up oil pressure, no fuel or spark?

Be sure to turn the engine forward (eccentric shaft rotates clockwise, if you are standing in front of the car looking into the engine bay). Someone told me that turning the engine backwards could do bad things to the side seals depending on how the engine is ported.

I've definitely turned my engine backwards, but it has stock ports and everything seems to run fine (have put about 1000 miles on it since doing that).

I will put a few tanks of gas through it. See how it goes. I will put some B-12 into it as well. JUst not a good idea to let them set for 9 months. No I did nothing in the way of precaution in storing it. I had not idea that I would be leaving it so long. Battery went dead but wife got well.

Hey Doc, Good to hear that your wife is doing well.

Personally, I think your car is fine. If I recall, you keep your car in the garage and also its not super humid or high temp change. I've heard from people in the past that storing the engine or car in humidity controlled and temp controlled shouldn't do much to the car.

My personal experience, I've let my FD sit for 6+ months and no issues. I'm about to go pick up my Silver FD and that's been sitting still for about 3 months now. I usually drive around, put half a tank and don't push to high loads.
