Default Race pipe

So, as of right now, i have all my emissions systems in place. I do however want to remove the Magnaflow OEM cat so it doesn't melt on me. I was looking at the corksport resonated race pipe, but it doesn't appear to have the air intake tube from the air pump. What do i do with that tube if i add a race pipe? I don't want to remove any other emissions equipment.

Opps, i wasn't very specific.

I have a rebuild air pump.
For exhaust, i have factory header, magnaflow straight downpipe, magnaflow cat, and corksport 2.5" catback.

None of the race pipes or resonators on the market will have a place to attach the split air pipe - no cat, so you don't need it.

If minimal emissions modification is what you're after, you can just rig something up to secure the now hanging split air pipe under your car, and let it vent to atmosphere. This won't hurt anything, but the air exiting it may sound funky...

If you notice on your Air Control Valve (ACV), it has an "exhaust" port where it dumps low pressure air from the pump to whenever the ECU isn't directing the air to the cat and/or exhaust ports. That ACV exhaust port has rubber plumbing and a plastic muffler on it, which silences the sound this ACV exhaust would otherwise make. If you remove the rubber plumbing & muffler piece from the ACV, it sounds sort of like a flattulent cow. You might have the same sound problem if you open air vent your split air pipe -- never tried it, but it stands to reason. Guess you can try, and see if the sound is noticable over the engine exhaust.

I do now notice when i lift off for a shift at about 3500, i hear a hissing kind of squeak, that i always assumed was the air pump. If all I need to do is let it hang there, and it won't cause any problems, then that's what i will do. Maybe i will make a bracket with a breather filter on it so that no salt can make its way into the tube.

Thanks for the speedy response.

Or, remove the airpump.

lmao. I would, if it was 5 years later, i didn't need it for my dd, and emissions was not a question anymore.

TT, you ever get pissed off that your car isn't fixed? Cause today thats how I am feeling about my other car, the one that is supposed to be reliable, that is now sitting for over a year with a blown motor. fucking piston powered cars, all lies i tell you.

Well if you're running a race pipe, you won't be passing and emmisions tests anyway. Thing to do then is just spend a few hours every 2 years and swap the cat, install the airpump, go get tested, and then go home and remove everything. This is what I do, but I only swap cat's for presilencers and it's only 3 V bands.... takes me longer to jack the car up than it does to swap everything over

Nope, never get pissed at the car for not running, half the fun is working on the thing anyway. I get pissed when I hit armadilla @ 90mph after I got backed into 3 days earlier after I repainted the new bumper 5 days before that. I've got my XJ which has been awesome to me. Piston powered cars are mostly lies, yes, especially when they're stuffed into non piston powered cars.

Yea, i like the idea of just 4 bolts to swap cat for resonated race pipe (presilencer), for emissions. That's what I am after. I don't exactly want to deal with swapping the air pump too.

Does removing the air pump reduce or increase fuel milage? Does it make the car louder or quieter?

As for the "fun in working on it" is it would be fun, if it weren't a spun lower end, costing me a full motor pull and rebuild. Then it annoys me when i see the bill for straight replacement parts, which I am still having trouble coming up with the dough for. FUCK PRECATS!
