Wait so your fuel pump doesn't turn on? Or your oil pump quit? If its the fuel pump, first check all wiring and fuses, if all that checks out fine then your pump probably failed.

It seems this isn't a 2nd gen, but in mine I can't hear the pump unless the car is off and I jumper it to run. Stock pumps are pretty quiet.

Like it was already stated, stock fuel pumps can be very quiet. Especially if you have an in tank pump and the tank is full. I think Rx4's had an external pump though. Either way, if you want to do it by ear, crawl undermeath the car and listen for the pump. Or pull a fuel line and place it into a container so it will not spill. Turn the key on and see if fuel flows out.

i have a stupid dumb question. if there no fuel in my fuel tank, will the fuel pump run? mine coughs and splatters when there is no fuel in the tank, but when i took it out and ran a 12v source through it, it continually ran. also, rx4 mazda, where is the fuel tank fuse? thanks !
