Default Auto X Classes

How do you know what class you're car falls in?
Could some one post a dumbed down link or list for the different classes for those who want to register for an AutoX.

(Or if that's too much; what class does my car fall in? See garage link)

they just changed all the classes this year...

Modified Drive train (Turbo, Port, injectors, non-stock radiator, non-stock oil lines, etc) and suspension (coilovers, larger sway bars, poly bushings)

So when I'm registering for the event I just click SSM or XP? If they decide I'm not really in that class will they change me?

I'm going to guess SSM, but they will set you straight when you get there. Just register as what you think you might be, then ask for clarification when you show up.

Is this your first one? You might find a couple of worthwhile tid bits of information here: http://www.iwankel.com/index.php?opt...tid=4&id=10#26

It depends on the guys putting the thing together. Some are really stringent, others are just there to have a good time..... lets put it this way, first event I went to with one club, they put me in SSM and I got my ass whopped as most of the guys were on A6's or some other R-comp tire. So I was a little more lax with the info that I shared at the next event at a different club
Hi, I'm here to register
Ok, class are you in
dunno
what have you done to the car

like alot, like it would be easier to tell you what I didn't do
OK, sounds like CSP to me

You would be in SSM or higher though becuase of the swappage etc

I'm jealous. I have only managed 2 hrs on the FC in the last 2 weeks..... I've got a day off on Wed or Thursday, planning on another allnighter to finish her off.

Good luck, take lots of vid, set up the suspension properly, take care of the tire pressure, watch people closely and walk the course a few times. When walking the course kneel down so you have a better idea what to look for when your in the car.

camber plates and/or bigger turbo both put you out of street prepared.
its either Prepared (not sure which letter now) or SSM. and yah, you're gonna get your ass whooped in either lol.

autox classes are not mac strut friendly.

its not like your classing really matters anyway. you're not going for points, not going to nationals, and i doubt anyones gonna scrutinize.

Does anyone remember/know the number of race events you need before you get Mazda's racing program discount? Is it two per year?

Tyler - I didn't know you wanted to auto-x

What events are you trying to run? If you're new to auto-x, I suggest jumping in with NASA Mid-Atlantic's Championship Auto-x. I ran it all last year and have found it a much better venue then some of the CDC or even SCCA events, plus you get a good amount of seat time which is the most important. On top of that, you can just enter as the Novice class and not worry about classing your car at all.. you'll still get the required events for Mazda Comp and as you learn more about the sport, you'll quickly pick up where your car falls in the classing.

IMHO (I'm not trying to start a flame war) but I find NASA a bit easier to class cars then SCCA... both seem to put me in a class I don't belong though, lol. I run NXD with the RX8 and I'm running against modded Supras (MKIII), E30/E36 M3s and the like. All have gobs more power than me... but truth be told, I'm only a few spots behind them... suspension mods will get me there!!!

Long story short... come race with me I get bored with the lack of rotary guys at most of the events.... next one is May 9th in Petersburg....

There's an event here at Tech in June I think. Planning on running that.

I think I may have to travel down just to run with you guys. Bill, do you have a website or something that I can look up and pick a few dates, maybe the three of us could get together and have some rotary fun.

In regards to power..... there's a guy that comes to both local clubs. He brings an RX8 that he runs in Street something, and an FB that he runs in CSP. This little carbed 4port and he beats me EVERY time. Power isn't everything, he's running a dialed in suspension, A6's at all four corners that are as wide as my rears, and the dude can drive.
