FS: Fiberglass hatch frame w/lexan window, $400
I've been making these frames for a while for the racers and thought I'd post them here. They could be adapted to work with hinges but you would still need to have some way of holding the edges down tight. The whole thing weighs about 14-15 pounds. Frame w/ lexan installed, $425
St Pete, Fl 33708

How do you hold them down? A pin system? Directly bolted down?
I might be interested in one. |

See the little silver slotted thing in the elbo area of the frame? There are 7 of them around the frame, 2 on top, 3 across the bottom(holes) and 1 on each side. They latch with a quarter turn.

I like, I like, maybe give me a couple of weeks, and I'll be all over one.
What would shipping be to 40737? |

Yep, Dzus fasteners.
I forgot to mention the whole thing weighs only 15lbs. The frame is about 4 and the lexan is 11. Compare that to 57lbs for the stock one that doesn't have a wiper. The stock frame alone is 17lbs. Better buy one now, limited production piece!!!!!!! Just kidding, I'll always have the mold laying around, let me know when you're ready. Here is a couple pics of how I hold it down.

With the fasteners would only be about $15-20 more depending on how many you want and what kind of mounting tabs you want. I've also had people use a combination of dzus, hood pins and stock hinges. I should probably post a shot of that set up. They used the stock hinges and hood pins to hold the straps that SCCA requires as well as holding things down. Then the dzus fasteners were used to hold the "elbo" part on the sides in tight.
It would be best to put the fasteners on after you get the tabs mounted for best fit but shipping you the stuff in a bag would be no big deal.

Exhaust and road noise come right through it, I can't say how much more because I have not run a car with a stock hatch with the engine and exhaust I have on the car. I just have to worry about being under 103db so my car is very loud.
I don't run a hatch seal(weighs too much!) so I get water in the car. I suppose you could run one and I could seal up the window to hatch mating surface when I build it but its really a pure race part. I would really have to take a look at how close the frame is to the chassis on the underside to see if a stock seal would help. Its made to look like a stock piece from the outside only so its held only by the dzus tabs not resting on the body opening. For use on the street, its possible, where there is a will, there is a way. If you want to lose a bunch of weight of your street car I can help you brainstorm to make it work for you.

That hatch is still Bad Ass. I would rock one, but it is a little overkill on my FC!

Here are a couple close ups. The one with the wider green foam core is the top across the roof area. It shows how I attach the strap required by SCCA with dzus fastener in the area of the stock hinge. The one with the narrow foam core is the bottom/back edge. I can get a full shot tonight and post it this evening.
You can also see the rivet backing washers that help hold the lexan to the frame. This has been tested up to about 150mph many times if that hasn't been mentioned before.
