Default Gauge Pod Raffle - Forum Membership Drive

Hey gang,

I have the idea of holding a raffle for the benefit of the forum, but I'm not exactly sure of how best to go about it.
I'm looking for ideas on how we can use this as a membership drive at the same time.

So, I want to create a discussion with the forum members here and see what kind of ideas we can come up with.

The pod will likely be a LH52TP from the current production run, which will be done in a week or so.

Let's keep this thread on topic. Any other discussions of gauge pods and waiting lists due dates should be for another thread (which I see kind of started without me )

Let's go!

Regards,
Frank

PS. If you're here from clicking a link on my webpage, please take the time to register as a member of the forum. It's free! If you have problems getting the verification email just drop me an email, we'll get you set up. (Right Phil?)

I know sterling set a start and end date for bidding and people updated the thread with their most recent bid.

Remember that you cannot link to this forum on the evil forum or you'll be warned/banned and the links edited to go to disney.com, so you must figure out a system to let everyone know without getting yourself in trouble.

I will add this thread to my sig and will edit it to go to the final auction thread once you establish a system.

I'm not sure if it's an auction that I want. With a raffle we can have several people involved for just a couple bucks apiece, as opposed to limiting it to whoever can afford what an auctioned pod might bring.

100-200 people at $1 or $2 as opposed to maybe 10-20 people that might get involved with an auction.

It's not the final price that matters to me, I just think it would be a great way to introduce many people to the forum. At least that's the plan.
The hardest part is going to be getting the word out beyond this forum.
I'll start with a link on my webpage.

Frank

Have you thought of the cost of a raffle ticket? also, how many can you buy? So far this is what I've found that would get people interested:

FD:

FC:

I can see how the Universal units can work with AN SA/FB so it's not a problem. These seem to be able to fit to ANY car (rx3, REPU, Cosmo, etc., etc.) so it's all amatter of getting people interested now.

I like the raffle Idea.. only problem is that its hard to send $2 over paypal as paypal will take 1.30+ on fees.

I'll think about this over next few days also..

By the way, Thanks so much Frank for coming on here and supporting the forum!!

Phil,

Is that true, $1.30 in fees? I've never received a $2 payment so I wouldn't know. I thought it was just a 3% fee. If it's only 3% I'm willing to go that route, but at $1.30 for every $2, that just doesn't make sense.
I'm also willing to donate at least half the proceeds to the forum, if not all (that might cost a T-shirt though )

Anybody know for sure about the fee? I guess there's only one way to know, someone send me their paypal address and I'll send you $2, but you have to post back what the fee % was.

At any rate, I have a LH52TP set aside for this raffle. It's on the shelf and ready to go as soon as we can figure out a method that works.

Regards,
Frank

Cool,

My initial thoughts are that it doesn't matter how many tickets any one person can buy and I'm leaning to $2 a ticket. Any more and we may lose people and any less kind of takes away the alure, IMHO.
If Paypal takes too much then I say we just do cash in an envelope. Old school. It's not like the moola is extravegant enough to not send via usps.

Let's start by just making pledges, like "I'll take 5 tickets" and we can gauge interest that way, before people actually start sending money. Once the ball starts rolling then we can set a cut off date. Until people start finding out about the raffle I think it would be a little unfair to set a date just yet. Let's fan the flames a bit if we can.

Open to further suggestions, though.

Frank
