AccessPORT for the RX-8
The Cobb AccessPORT for the RX-8 is now available. This device supersedes any and all engine management devices for the RX-8. It essentially turns your OE PCM into a tightly integrated stand-alone engine management system. All fuel and ignition tables can be customized for any application - including all forms of forced induction - and most of the auxiliary functions can be adjusted to suit. Oil metering, MAF/IAT/EcTS mapping, idle speed, rev limit, cooling fan on/off, accelerator pedal mapping, closed-loop operation, injector scaling and latency, ignition dwell, knock sensor limits, warm-up limits and S-DAIS operation are all independently adjustable and all CEL functions can be disabled as needed through the Calibration Service offered by MazdaManiac and included with every MazdaManiac AccessPORT purchase. The Cobb AccessPORT is now available for all North American models, both manual and automatic 2004 - 2007. The Cobb AccessPORT is now available for all Asian and European Models as well! Custom Calibrations are now available for those that have purchased their AccessPORT from another vendor. Watch this video for a demonstration of the simple AccessPORT installation procedure, utilizing the MazdaManiac calibrations: AccessPORT Installation Video Basic information on the Cobb AccessPORT can be read here: Cobb AccessPORT for the RX-8 The Cobb sub-forum for the AccessPORT for the RX-8 is here: CobbTuning RX-8 Forum The "Quick Start" guide can be downloaded here: AccessPORT Getting Started *All prices subject to change. All MazdaManiac calibrations for the AccessPORT include the following characteristics:
Performance gains are realized through "levels" of fuel and ignition recalibration, allowing for leaner naturally aspirated A/F targets with more aggressive ignition timing or increased torque limits, increased fueling and reduced ignition timing for forced induction applications. New users (v4.0 BASE):
Once you have downloaded the newest firmware and APManager, go the MazdaManiac Calibration download area and acquire the proper base calibration for your application.
To verify your proper application, follow the "install" directions below up to the point where the AccessPORT identifies your vehicle. Use the proper calibration based on what the AccessPORT tells you - NOT what you believe your model to be. The AccessPORT asks the car's PCM to identify itself, so it knows best what model to use for calibration purposes. Link: Quote:

Once you have acquired the proper base calibration for your model, follow these instructions exactly: Quote:
Please read THIS PAGE on Data-Logging from Cobb before proceeding. Perform the following data-log procedure: Quote:
Send an e-mail using THIS LINK, attach the two data-log files you have just created (one at idle and one at a steady cruise) as well as the actual calibration you downloaded and used for these logs and provide the answers to these questions: The "11 Deadly Questions" Quote:
Provided you have followed the directions correctly, you should receive an adjusted calibration within 5 days (business days, Monday through Friday) after receiving your confirmation e-mail. __________________________________________________ ___________ NOTE: These are BASE CALIBRATIONS. They provide NO PERFORMANCE BENEFIT over stock and are designed ONLY for the purpose of collecting data for proper calibration of your particular car. For those with boosted applications, the calibrations will provide enormous amounts of fuel in the boosted ranges and will probably run poorly at above-atmospheric manifold pressures. If you have a boosted application with larger-than-stock fuel injectors (especially in the primary position), or if you have a non-standard MAF pipe, there is a good chance these will not operate your vehicle at all. USERS ON VERSIONS v4.0.1 AND HIGHER
Quote:
ON BOOSTED APPLICATIONS – IF YOU OBSERVE EQUIVALENCE RATIOS (AFR) ABOVE 12.5 AT MANIFOLD PRESSURES OVER 3 PSI OR HEAR AUDIBLE RATTLE OR KNOCK, IMMEDIATELY RELEASE THE GAS PEDAL AND DO NOT ATTEMPT ANOTHER WOT PASS UNTIL CONTACTING MAZDAMANIAC! Perform the following data-log procedure: Quote:
Send an e-mail using THIS LINK, attach the three data-log files you have just created (one at idle, one at a steady cruise adn one at WOT) as well as the actual calibration you downloaded and used for these logs. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU ATTACH THESE 4 FILES OR YOUR CALIBRATION SUBMISSION WILL BE REJECTED! Then, provide the answers to these questions: The "11 Deadly Questions" Quote:
