Mazda Parts went up big time...
Just giving everyone a heads up. The price on rotary parts specifically rotor housing went up retail on a 95 rotor housings is 1000+
We cant sell them Lower than 800.00 a housing now .... Eshafts are over 400.00, not that people buy these alot... Just the rotor parts to rebuild are over 1k..... Hoefully that comes down one day but I doubt that is going to happen. Just a heads up |

Lets not forget Dealer greed...
I needed a part that the dealer listed for $129. When I went in to get it, I saw the price to the dealer for this same part was about $52.

I can understand making money.
But do they truly need a 100+ % markup on parts? I think this is the prime reason nobody does business with a delaer unless they absolutely haveto. The tires on my BMW cost $1300 a set on the street; but if you go to the dealer, they will charge upward of $1600. So, nobody (in their right mind) buys from them. But if they had a reasonable markup, they could compete and the customers would be more likely to buy from them - not only the tires, but also other parts. At this stage, the competition to dealers for sources of rare parts is not other stores; dealers do have a lock on these special parts. Instead, the competition is the boneyard. If the dealers didn't try to rape the customers everytime they came in for parts, they would probably get a lot more business and benefit from more good will.

Most other markets you retail something for 2x to 3x what you buy it for (or so my friend who runs a flower shop tells me).
The rotary engine industry (automotive in general) is much more cut throat than that. Ask any vendor and they will tell you the profit margin is much smaller, like maybe 20% if you are lucky. The big dealers I think generally try to adhere to something closer to the 2x markup, but private shops couldn't sell anything if they did that. If our cost goes up any prices have to adjust immediately, otherwise every part would be sold at a loss and nobody can operate like that. It sucks the state of our economy now |

When I worked at Nelson Mazda, parts were marked up about 160%, rotary/RX-7 related parts were marked up 300%. No lie.

Well, yeah dealers tend to go for a higher mark up yet I know what they are paying on parts and there mark up is not 160% on rotary parts anyway... I bought a 4 dollar toyota part from a dealer and they wanted 55 bucks so I know they can be scammers..
We buy direct and our mark up is low ...very low G |
