Can I use a fuel additive to prevent it from flooding?
What does VIS refer to?
Do I always have to have new spark plugs when it gets flooded?
What are the signs of a bad catalytic converter?
Which brand of gasoline is best for RX8?
Is NO Ethanol gas O.K.?

1) No
2) Variable Intake Solenoid
3) I usually do
4) Sluggish acceleration, slow to rev freely, smelly exhaust (worse at initial start up)
5) Does not really matter what brand you use. They are all held to the same standard.
6) Yes

RX8s - awesome as they are - are completely outside my budget, My experience lies with mostly second gens and a few first gens. However, I doubt that there have been any major changes is the causes of flooding.

Two-stroke oil in gas helps with flooding a little (I am not really sure why, but I know it does).

On s5 second gens, flooring the gas while cranking would disable the injectors and clear a flood.

I really don't understand why a new car like an RX8 would have this flooding issue, it has to be too much priming pulse before starting. You could trick it by adjusting the output of the coolant temp sensor with a resistor (this would require some research, but may be useful development for someone with an RX8 to do).

The s5s had a lot fewer flooding issues than the s4s because they had a smaller priming pulse (that is why an s5 cranks longer to start than an s4).

Still, my 4-port will start on just about any amount of fuel you want to throw at it. I have flooded it severely (tuned for 3-bap MAP sensor, had 1 bar MAP seensor that I thought was 3-bar) and after the issue was corrected, it started right up (no deflooding, new spark plugs or anything).

This is why I am baffled that the RX8 has this issue. Second gens usually only exhibit these symptoms when they are worn out (low compression).
