What is it?
Bryan,
Can you tell me what I have here? Picked up this turbocharger from someone on that other forum. It definitely is an S5, based on the N370 stamp on the compressor section and the dual wastegate ports on turbine side. However, the connection points for the oil and coolant pipes are not in the correct position. It appears to me that the unit has been disassembled and reassembled incorrectly so that the central, connecting section is not in the correct rotational position. What do you think? The first image is of the S5 unit on my car. The rest of the images are of the recently purchased turbo. Notice the difference in the wastegate actuator rod. Strange. |

The wastegate rod was straightened and shortened. I have seen it before. Also it looks, like you said, to be clocked differently.
Maybe it was in a FB or something?

Yeah, don't know about the wastegate rod. It actually looks longer than the 'bent" rod on my turbo.
Contacted the seller today and he said that he had disassembled it to "clean" it and must have reassembled it incorrectly. He never installed it on an engine. |
