Best tire size for stock 15"
I have the stock 15x6 (86-87.5 GTU/Sport) rims and I'm wondering what the best tire size for handling would be. I have some crappy Wal-Mart tires on there now and want to put something better on.
My main options seem to be: 195/55-15 205/50-15 225/45-15

I don't know if width should be all what you're looking for. A cheap crappy tire on 225s won't outperform a good sticky tire on 205s. Are you looking for a summer tire? all-weather-tire? for racing?
http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/for...re/8825/page1/ Glad you brought it up, I'm looking for good street tires that will perform without needing to be replaced too often.

225 50 15, might need some 1/8 or 3/16 spacers not sure, on tire rack there are some pretty sticky tires in that size

I don't think you can fit 225s on a 6" wheel. I may be wrong but you may need to go with a wider wheel to fit 225s.

I run/ran 215s on a 5.5 inch wheel...Not recommended but doable...Problem is the sidewalls are already rolled over a bit so handling is kinda odd and you dont get most out of the tires...I figure 225s on a 6 would be similar results.

My minds tellin' me no...

You saw Zach's red FC at DGRR right? That is what 225/50/15's look like on stock BBS wheels (same set up I have).
I run mine inflated to 40 psi and they work great.

I used to run 225-50-15's back in the day. I used kumho ecstas because they were cheap and decent.
