Default Fuel pump is cavitating.

profanity, obscene language, vulgar words and well...fuck.

well i went to get the start up process going tonight and low and behold, the fuel system is going to be an issue. Originally, i had this problem with fuel flow to the engine. I had dropped the gas tank and saw that the pick up tube was mostly blocked by the orange crap the they inside gas tanks when they refurbish them. Though i had cleared it out.

Turn the pump on and i get the obviously sucking air noises from the pump, the fuel pressure will read around 45 (with some variation and its not very smooth). Then if i shut it off the gauge will extremely quickly plummet to 0 psi. Seems like its pushing a lot of air. Now i dont think i have anything wrong other than something still kicking my ass with the gas tank's pick up tube.

Now, my options are pretty much try and drop the tank and see if i can clear the pick up, or perhaps tap for a new connection. Money is tight and i have only 12 days til i leave for the Air Force basic.

stupid car.

I would start with pulling the tank. Have you checked to see if the filter is clogging up?

the filter was new and the issue started immediately and there wasnt even a spec of anything in the tank. Im worried that the company that refurbished it messed it up

if the tank is clean and you don't have any leaks then it would have to be the pump. Does your injection setup use a return?

yea, i have a return system. I can "feel" some action in both. The pump is new. the old pump did the exact same thing. Im thinking the pickup tube is restricted to the point where it can't pull enough fuel. Im going to double check everything with the car on the lift to verify, but i have that gut feeling the issue with the tank
