s5 vert problems
on jfaplanets vert there is some kind of wiring demon to where every once in a while the top decides it doesn't want to go up anyone have any ideas what it could be?
The e brake will be up and it'll be in neutral and it won't even try to go up or make the beeping noise. I've driven this car for almost a month now and its never done it till tonight, but it has done it before to jfaplanet( he would just wait a couple hours go mess with it and it would go up). Basiclly what all safety switches and relays does the power have to go threw before the top goes up.

Just had one in last week did the same thing except his wouldn't work even after sitting.
All electronic controls and wiring tested good. Mazda's end of diagnosis, bad motor/motors. I couldn't believe two motors to go bad at the same time. Used the 2oz hammer tap. Motors started to work intermittently. Was able to get them both to work, but don’t know how long that fix will last. My conclusion, internal relays sticking or dirt armatures. He wasn't up for me to take them apart and check out the relays. His motor is making bubbles enough for me to know that it probably will not make it through another Tucson summer if driven daily. He is just going to drive it till it drops then get rid of it. (only paid 3600 for it 3 year ago) None of my people have had any problems with their tops so haven't had the need to go deep into them. (most all are original owners) This was the first that has any problem. I am sure someone out there has taken the motor assemblies apart and knows if the relays can be replaced or be able to install new brushes . |

this happens to me at least once a year. it seems to be a cold solder joint in my top switch, depending on the year vert you have you could have the top switch on the gauge cluster or next to your fog light switch or security light thing (where the armrest is) i for one have the switch in front of the arm rest. anyway its weird because when it does it to mei just push a little extra hard and it seems to just work what the SMART thing for me to do is to dissemble the damn switch and check the contacts and fix the issue but its never been that big of a deal to where its stuck open or closed. my buddies wife has an s5 vert with the switch on her gauge cluster surround and its junk its broken on them like 3 times now. they have fixed it 2 times and i dont think they are going to bother fixing it the 3rd time haha
