Windshield Wiper Malfunction
Hello experts,
My vert has had this problem for a while. The wiper switch is down to ONE speed only - low....no fast, no intermittent. It's all together with the hazard and the vert open/close control. I thought it was the switch so I bought another one (used) and plugged it in. Same thing - one speed ONLY. Either the replacement is bad too OR it's something else altogether. Maybe it's the motor itself. Maybe I should have bought a NEW SWITCH at $250.... kinda steep if you ask me... Any advice out there.........??? |

Hey Pheonix lookie what I found:
http://fc3spro.com/TECH/HOWTO/WIPER/wiper.html Not only is it a how-to it's also gives the location to pick up the relays. Enjoy.

To add my .02 ... this is about a medium difficulty fix if you have any sort of soldering skills. The hardest part is desoldering the old relay without burning anything (I tried both solder wick and two solder suckers and found the wick MUCH easier). It's very likely that both switches you tested are bad as this is a very common issue.

Wiper Switch Problems
I have a similar problem. My original switch on my '91 only works on low and I just replaced my switch with a working switch I bought on ebay. Now the wipers run all the time no matter what position the switch is in. Any ideas?

Probably the wrong series switch in the wrong harness. IE: S4 in an S5, or S5 in an S4.

switch is probably burned out, but we really can't tell you anything unless you test the circuit. Break out that multimeter and find out what the voltages are and compare those to the FSM.
