Turbo Upgrade
I am running a S5 T2 Engine with a basic Street Port, Rtek 2.1, 750cc Injectors, and an NPR Front Mount. I don't have everything installed yet but I'm looking for a good to Turbo Upgrade that will get my car to around 300hp at the wheels. I was planning on the BNR Stage 2 but I was told I would run out of turbo before I run out of RPM. Does anyone have suggestions for my Turbo Upgrade?

A BNR turbo is a great upgrade from stock. A stage 2 or 3 would be perfect for a 300whp goal.
The only other options are full T4 turbos, and then you get into changing you manifold, running an external wastegate and the cost quickly escaltes. |

I would say the Stage 3 should reach that goal. I've seen a well built S4 T2 on a S5 turbo make 298whp w/ a streetport and standalone at 14psi. I believe he ported the WG and had the trim on the cold side of the turbo setup differently though by majestic turbo way back in the day...
I think what MIGHT hold you back is more of the ECU and not the Stage 3 turbo.. be sure to run a full 3" or better exhaust and port that WG! |

I am going full T04 upgrade. I was contemplating a BNR, but recent changes have sent me down the T04 path. I am dreading spending the $$$, but enthusiastic about the end result. And future upgrades will be a little easier since you already have a better manifold, and the new oil lines.
But, I have heard good things about hybrids, however some people complain about lag. I will wait for someone with more experience than I to chime in.

i went from stock to T4 on my FC and it is back down again for T6. depending on the size of your streetport lag really isnt that bad. and in my opinion it is really fun, because you have nothing, nothing, nothing, and then OH MY GOD!!!! the lag is really only there when you first get on it. between shifts the turbo stays spooled(this is with BB, i dont know about journal bearing) so when you hit the next gear it throws you back again with no wait.
as far as the BNR turbos go, one of my friends has the stg 3 on a stock port s4 and loves it. he actually has simillar mods to you. but i have never used any of them. then you also look at price. the comparrisons go on and on... the biggest thing i would suggest is a full standalone as that will net you the most power out of whatever turbo you go with. just make sure you get a proper tune and not some basemap!

I am still looking for a good size turbo. I am thinking .96-1.05? Sound good for stock ports?

the first setup i did was a BB to4s on a large SP S4 with a .84. i figured it was worth a shot and if it ran out of breath i could change housings. i only ran it to 13 psi, but it never ran out of breath all the way to 8k!!!!!
how much power and what size turbo are you going with? that will help me a little with helping you on a/r.

Me? All I want is low to mid 300's. Nothing too hardcore. Like I said, i am running stock ports and such. Plus I want the car to remain reliable and easy to drive.

Will you be running a standalone? Or an RTEK? I made 350 on stock ports but I was using a hybrid 60-1 (BNR stage 3). I then went on to make 400 HP on stock ports but that required full single (T-61).

I would say go with the to4e as well, that should get you around the 300 mark without issues.

Right now I have nothing as far as an ECU upgrade other than an FCD. I wouldn't even think of running a set-up like this with out at least an F-CON.
I am trying to get a PFC and use the Banzai kit. What A/R would be good for low lag?
