It does collect metal debris on it. When I did the first oil change on it when I had the car I got a big old blob of oil and metal that was then promptly wiped on a rag and thrown away. The plug has been cleaner ever since.

Any parts store really. I know summit sells a magnet that hooks up on the oil filter (something else to consider).

umm, i could have sworn that you can get one at advanced auto...
I did hear that it's not 100% effective because it cant attract aluminum bits, but I think that it's WAY better than having no protection at all! (like, primer looks ugly and still absorbs water, but it's more protection then just leaving the metal bare... ya dig?)
