Custom exhaust advice
Extra points to anyone with the Defined Autoworks exhaust manifold.
Trying to figure out the best way to build a single exit exhaust that maximizes performance but keeps sound intensity below 92 dB so I don't get black flagged. With the Defined header I've probably got space for two suppression devices with a single exit. Logan recommends Borla XR-1 mufflers but would two of those in series be enough? What about a Racing Beat presilencer into one of their mufflers? Two Racing Beat mufflers in series? XR-1 into Racing Beat muffler? Other ideas? Not really wanting to run a dual setup. |

Fuck borla... I hate those fucking pieces of shit. Better quality of stainless yes, but they just simply do not last.

SMB
The best hands down, only proven on rotaries in endurance racing, used on the Factory SP racing cars, they are the best !

Checked out their website. Nice units but not repackable. What arrangement would you recommend for a high-spinning n/a motor? Two mufflers? Resonator/muffler combo? Something else? I only have space for two sound suppressing devices.

Been looking into Burn's Stainless mufflers recently after rereading an article in GRM. They seem to think two of their mufflers in series would be sufficient. I couldn't find a whole lot of info on tbem witb rotaries though.

the universal ones seem to be priced roughly around where the XR-1s are. so thanks, Rice. i don't know what shipping from Australia will be since I've never done that before, but i will keep them as an option since i really only want to do my exhaust once and be done with it. i will look into gathering more info on XR-1 failures/reliability because so far, aside from a few people saying they thought they were a bit too loud, this is the first time I've heard of anyone saying they're garbage. http://www.burnsstainless.com/ultra-lightmufflers.aspx i remember looking at Burns Stainless mufflers maybe two or three years ago and to be honest, the prices scared me. it hasn't changed. |
