Found strange box spliced in under dash
I was looking under the dash earlier and came across this weird box spliced into the wiring harness. it has 4 prongs on it and 3 wires going into it, one of the wires is connected to 2 of the prongs. Any idea what this is and why it's there? I'll try to take some better pics tomorrow when lighting is better.
The 3 wires that were cut look like they went into here before... There is a small diagram on the front of it, I couldn't get a clear pic of it, but it looks like this: Can I just take this off and solder the 3 wires back together? I know this is kind of a stupid question, but I want to be sure before I go messing with wiring and what not. There's alot of ghetto wiring done on this car. I also found a plug to hook up to the lights on a trailer spliced into the taillight harness. I also found a piece of gum, still in wrapper, behind the trim piece

Its a relay. Looks like it was wired to your CPU. Maybe part of an aftermarket alarm. Whatever you do DONT wire them all together... Burning wires will ensue.

Yep, it's an automotive Bosch or "Bosch-type" relay.
Since it goes into the "CPU", I'd imagine they were trying to get the hazards to flash for the alarm? -Ted |
