Default gasket kit compatability?

I have a 13b (6 port) Gasket kit I bought a while back to build a motor that I never went through with. I'm wondering if there is any real difference in the o rings and gaskets to close the motor?

Obviously there are differences in the paper gaskets. But I'm not concerned with that. Just the gaskets to close the motor.

Basically, could I use this kit to close a 12a or a Renesis?

The water seals?

You couldn't use them on a 12A, your 1308cc engine is larger than the older motors so the seals are larger in circumference. I'm not sure about a Renesis, I would think you could seeing as it's a 13b as well...

I thought the 12a was just 10mm narrower than the 13b but all other dimensions were the same?

Hmmmm.... Everyone shows different part numbers from gen1 12A/13B water seals to gen2 13B water seals?

But it looks like I was mistaken after researching more. I read you can swap the end/mid plates so that seems the water seals would work?

In all engines from 1986+ (prior to RX-8 engines?), the water jacket o-ring grooves are located on the side irons.
In 12A's, the water jacket o-ring grooves are in the (aluminum) rotor housings.
I cannot confirm that the grooves are identical in dimensions.
Also, because of the above facts, you cannot swap side irons.

Please, if you don't have solid experience with the items in question, don't spread misinfomation like this.

I have used many 86-93 coolant orings in renesis engines without any ill effect.

Today I took a few measurments. I measured the inner and outer wajer jacket grooves depth and width on an Renesis housing, 13b 6 port (FC) plate, and a GSLSE housing. The Renesis and 6 port were exactly the same. While the GSLSE were slightly smaller. Just a few thou.

This lead me to believe that 1st gen, (12a or 13b) jackets are sightly smaller and should be only used on those motors. While all others can interchange 86+ including the Renesis.

But... I know when we were younger a friend of mine used 12a gasket kits on every motor he built because they were cheaper.
