'85 13b woes.
Ok so I finally got a key made for my 85 rx7, and got a battery. The engine turns over and has compression. Not getting spark at this time, I found a wiring diagram and according to it, my coils are wired backwards. The black wire/yellow stripe which is the larger gauge wire is on the negative side of my coils. This is wrong, correct? Also, the plug wires were all wrong. One coil is a msd blaster 2, the other appears stock. Which should I wore as primary? Also, there is a variable resistor on the passenger side which looks to be adjustable with a flat head. What is it? Is it possible to post pictures directly from my iPhone?

you're in the right site. the thicker wire is the positive.wire the msd coil as the leading coil,as far as the thing you call a resistor,it's the fuel adjuster screw. I wouldn't touch it,unless someone has it out of adjustment,it adjusts air/fuel mixture. keep me posted if you have any more issues.

Ok I re wired the coils, fixed the firing order and nothing. After some searching, I found that the ignition module was removed for installation of the msd box and never put back in after removing the msd box. I will try to wire in a procomp ignition box to keep costs down. If it fires up and runs, ill order an ignition module

looks like you have things under control. i hate it when you get a car that someone thought they knew what they're doing. some people need to stay away from cars. feel free to post pics of your build.
