Intro and plans
Whats up guys and gals(?) I am in the process of getting my first RX7. Its an 83 that is bone stock with ~120K on the clock, I am trading my slammed B2200 for it. I have wanted an FB for quite a while so I have a pretty solid list going for mods, they include:
A fuel injected street ported 13b run on Megasquirt 8.8" Ford rear end FC brakes front and rear 5 lug swap ZG style fender flares Full coilovers Duck bill front spoiler Basicly I am aiming for an oldschool racecar style. Like this: |

Welcome. And turbo or NA? A nicely tuned 13B NA in an FB would be a funnn car to drive.

Damn it knew I forgot something. I will be NA and power goal of 225-250 RWHP. I am currently looking at the best combo of housings rotors and porting to meet my HP goals while mantaining decent reliabilty and still having a decent power curve. I am still trying to find a good lowmount race seat. I'm 6'2" so having something that mounts fairly low is a must.

Your power goals aren't going to be easy to hit. With a lot of tuning and such I've seen a little over 200.
I'd say go with a series 5 engine, do a bridgeport, and build from there. |

I keep hearing different things. Some people have told me that with a decent tune and street port that numbers like that would be no problem. Then I get others that say making anywhere north of 175hp will be a real problem.

I know on stock ports, 200 is considered big power. And a street port doesn't give you tons of improvement.
I'd say that a 13B with an aggressive street port, headers, exhaust, and all the bells and whistles, and a good tune might not give you what you are looking for, but it'd make for an FB that will spank a lot of the competition. The stock 12A's aren't very high in power. |

I wouldn't even worry about it. If you are pulling it anyway, just pull it and sell it.

Oh yeah, any pictures of your B2200? I've had two hammered B's. A longbed and a shortbed. Haha

That is pretty slammed. My last one had a set of 16 inch Pathfinder rims and it was a little over an inch off the ground. I swapped the wheels with a set of 14 inch Hardbody wheels from my Isuzu and I couldn't move it.
Both my B22's were real finicky with light throttle, and took FOREVER to get warm enough for the heat to work. But as I love RX7's, I got rid of them haha |

I had a 240, and 5 RX7's. My ex had an older Z and now has my 89 RX7. I honestly don't think any other RWD car compares to a 7. No one here likes them, so it's just more for me. Haha
