External wastegate on an S5 Tii stock setup
How feasible is this? Am running a JDM S5 Tii and it's boost creeping like crazy. Have managed to secure a Trust 50mm wastegate for free and would like to use it is possible to replace my existing wastegate setup. One reason is because the actuator's on its way out I think, not pulling the wastegate door shut on decel, resulting in a rattlesnake sound when driving!
Anyway, have read that it's pretty tough to attach an external wastegate to an S5 exhaust manifold. Can anyone who's tried this comment and let me know if it's possible and not a complete swine to do. Cheers in advance

Much harder to do on an S5 than an S4. Most difficult part is welding onto the cast manifold......HUGE BITCH! I ran a VW wastegate on my stock turbo years ago, it was an S4 though. Much easier to locate the wastegate on that layout.
It can be done on an S5 setup, search for blueTII posts about his HKS 60mm? setup on his hybrid stock turbo on the evilforum. |

It's been done before. It works very well for the people that have done it. I'll be doing it on my S5 manifold real soon. I'll post pics of it when i finish...
