How much does a manual transmission weigh?
I've heard it weighs from 90 lbs. to 125 lbs. Obviously it's going to vary based on the components bolted on. Anybody know?

I was just curious if the one I plan to buy could be shipped via Greyhound. They have a 100 lb. limit. Thanks.

You would likely be better off shipping it freight via www.gorlc.com. Will cost about $85-125.00 depending where you are shipping to.

Make sure it is packed properly.
The spline is about 3mm proud (longer) than the bell housing. Get a piece of plywood, get a drill Bit that matches the width of the spline and counter sink it by a 1/4" Now set the spline in the recessed part of the plywood. The bell housing should lay flat. Trace the outside of the bell housing. Cut the plywood and hold it up to the tranny. Drill holes and install some shipping hardware, to keep the plywood in place. That is how pineapple ships out their rebuilt trannies. (to prevent damage to the synchros) |
