Need help with GT35R install...please!
New to the forum & single turbos, but looking for help on some specifics about hooking up the coolant fittings I received with my GT35R kit. The fittings I got for the CHRA coolant inlet/outlet have an o-ring & washer (see pic). Now the CHRA doesn't have a seat per say for the o-ring, but it does have a small chamfer. I am assuming that I need to use both the o-ring and washer, and the washer just helps with keeping the o-ring from squeezing out while torquing the fitting down. Am I correct?
The problem I have with this is that the o-ring doesn't really fit inside the washer, and I don't know how I would torque this down without pinching and ruining the o-ring. Also this fitting is made by Parker---and while I know they do a lot of things for hydraulics, I'm not to sure about automotive---I wonder if the o-ring supplied can even take the temperature that the CHRA will see. Any help or advice that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. |

It's either or, not both. In this case, I would use the crush washer, as I would also have doubts as to if the o-ring will withstand the heat.

Thanks. Should I get an actual copper crush washer then? The washer supplied is zinc plated steel....

You could if you want, but I would assume the one they included would work fine?

I could use the washer that was supplied with the fitting....but it's obvious this fitting isn't made specifically for turbos and I'm worried about how well it's going to seal. Really trying to avoid having to tear the car apart again to fix a leaky connection.....

Copper or aluminum crush washers are best. Mazda uses both types on their engines.

Does the "Oring" you have fit the inside diameter of the washer?

It's close but not really---after looking at some of the fittings at ATP turbo I was confused as it looks like the ones they sell have a rubber or viton seal as well. I ordered some copper crush washers---we'll see how they work.
