Mazdaspeed intake
So I figured I would give my hand a shot at modifying my '07 RX-8 and as my first time modifying my car I decided to start with something simple so I chose the Mazdaspeed intake. Installation went fine, did run into any major and the car runs just fine. It sounds better and looks better than another anonymous black box under the hood.
One thing though; there is a second set of wires on the MAF sensor harness that were attached the the vacuum solenoid, is there anything I should do with those wires? The wires I am taking about are pictured below sitting on the cover of the fuse box. Second thing, what does the filter sock provided do? Last edited by sumdeus; 05-02-2008 at 06:20 PM. |

Not sure what the deal is with the left over connector... I'd expect anything factory to be well.. factory and to use all the plugs, so I can't help there.
The filter sock though is something I've never used on the car, but JEEP guys use them to basically "prefilter" the air and keep the element cleaner when going into some really nasty areas. Not sure if its really needed on a street driven car though.. |

That connector originally went to the VFAD since, it is not used with any aftermarket intake...you either just hide the connector somewhere or do as I did and cut the connector off, heat shrink the the wire ends and re-tape back down to the original wire bundle. I haven't had any fault codes come up and I have been running it like this for about 3 months.

As mentioned above, that clip is for the VFAD system. Very important question; did you put a vacuum cap on the intake manifold were the vacuum hoses for the vfad were? If not you need to....
