Hand finishing Cermet coating?
Hi all,
I have a NSU Wankel Spider that had two broken apex seals when I got it and hasn't run for a long time. I have an OK chrome plated housing, but obtaining carbon seals to use in it would be very difficult. A couple years back, I sent a spare housing to JHB in Canada to have it Cermet coated. They stripped the chrome and did the coating, but their finishing tool broke and they were not able to finish the housing. Is there a way that I can hand finish the rough cermet coating so my car will at least start and run? I'm not expecting perfection or lots of HP. I plan to use steel seals from a RO-80, and not carbon seals. Thanks! |

You might want to give Goopy Performance a call. They have a rotor housing refinish/refurbishing process that is described in this thread:
http://www.rotarycarclub.com/rotary_...ad.php?t=13408 From what I read, the process appears very promising for 13Bs. I have no idea if Goopy can set up his tooling to do anything with your NSU housings, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. |
