Turbo gaskets!
Anyone know the part numbers for the gaskets between the engine and manifold, and the manifold and turbo for an S5 TII? I need both, but $100 for the two at Mazdatrix is a tad retarded. O'reilly has a few gaskets listed, but no pictures. Any suggestions on where to buy and what the part numbers would be?

That's about the going price of those things.
The engine to turbo exhaust manifold is about $75. The turbo exhaust manifold to turbo is $30. So $100 is just about right. These are stainless steel "sandwich" gaskets, which are really expensive to make. I dunno why you're bitching about it. They are not normal type of gaskets. What happened to the original ones? These things tend to outlast the life of the turbo unless you run into an exhaust leak. Try pricing FD 13B-REW gaskets... The engine to turbo exhaust manifold gaskets are $100 A PIECE. Mazda divided them so it's one per exhaust port, so you need to buy two for the 13B-REW. So the FC 13BT $75 gasket is cheaper than TWO FD 13B-REW gaskets which comes out to a total of $200! In fact, some FD guys run the FC 13BT gasket cause it's a lot cheaper! -Ted |

Well I just got the S5 turbo, and it didn't have the gasket for the manifold to turbo. For whatever reason, the engine to manifold gasket wasn't on the motor when I got the engine back, so I need both. Someone told me that they were $30 new from an auto part shop, so I figured $30 was better than $75! I just didn't know.

Once you have the OEM gasket, as mentioned, it shouldn't need replacing unless it becomes damaged during a disassembly, or an exhaust leak causes a portion to burn off.
They're very high quality and to be honest, I wouldn't trust running an aftermarket one for something like this. For the $40, you'll be cursing yourself if the aftermarket one blows out in 10,000kms. |

Yeah, I already ordered a set. I ended up getting the OEM gaskets for my entire exhaust last year, I just didn't realize I'd be needing to buy more, but then again I never expected my turbo to go bad! Well, a minor hurdle in my quest for completion.
