Question Eccentric Shaft End Play?

The specifications within my Haynes manual specify that the "Standard" is .04 to .07 mm with a max of .09 mm. I started off with my "K" spacer and had a reading on my dial gauge of .015 (give or take .002 mm). I felt that may have been a little too tight so I borrowed an "X" spacer from jfaplanet and received a reading of .02 mm (maybe .002 mm more). IIRC the "S" and "T" spacers are uncommon and was wondering if the reading I received from the "X" (.02?) was good enough, or is it too tight still? ? ?

.0015" is what I shoot for. Basically a little tighter than Mazda's min. What are you torqueing the front nut to? You know you can tighten it a little more to snub it up a wee bit. I usually go for 110-115ft/lbs.

I didn't torque it at all, just ran a battery impact on it and the rear nut for a few seconds (probably around 90-100ft/lbs given the tools specs) just for fitment purposes but now that you mention it I can see the specified torque being crucial to the fitment process. Only thing is, is that will possibly get me a little less play. If you successfully run yours with a run-out of .0015mm with no issue then I'll stay with the "K" where I had the initial .015mm run-out and of coarse rechecking it after properly torquing the front and rear.

Sorry TT, misunderstanding on my part. I now see that you were stating your measurement in inches which is .038mm. So now my question is,

Who has a "S" or "T" spacer? Can these be purchased from Mazda still?

Are you sure those are in mm and not inches? I can't tell from the vid. It's rare that spacers need to be changed out.... unless you changed bearings or rotors.... I'd try Rob @ Pineapple. He told me once that he has a drawer full of them if I needed an odd size. MT probably has them as well and I'm sure Ray Crowe can get them as well.

Yeah, all new bearings (came in the RX8 stat. gears). Just ordered some spacers from Atkins, got both S & T to be sure.
