That all depends on you, if you can do all these things well: read, measure, work with your hands, pay attention to detail and have a knack for mechanical things then it can be relatively easy. If not you might want to just pay someone qualified to do it.

Tips: READ. Then read some more. Then a bit more. And read for a few more weeks just for good measure. Watch rebuild videos. Don't let your front Torrington bearing fall. Make sure your oil o-ring under the front cover is done right. There's a ton of crap to get right so you really have to do your research. Rebuild DVD's/videos are a good place to start because they'll familiarize you with the motor and can give rise to other questions you ought to be asking.

I believe they sell videos to rebuild rotary engines. I think Mazdatrix sells them.

Kevin (RotaryResurrection) has an extremely detailed PDF file that shows how to do a rebuild.

Atkins Rotary has a good rebuild video as well. And I think 'Ender' is 100% right, the more you can read and research, the better off you will be. Its important to have an understanding of what all the internal parts ACTUALLY DO, instead of just WHERE THEY GO. That way you pay a little more attention to detail when going through the rebuild... making sure everything lines up perfectly, seats correctly, stuff like that.

And label all of your sensor harnesses with masking tape or something.
