Hello all from Japan! I am active duty Army and just arrived here back in early October. I looked around at cars for a while and finally decided on, what I thought was a good deal, buying a 93' FD for $2k. I ended up having to replace the master cylinder, clutch fork, release collar, and throw-out bearing. This was just so I could finally drive the car, which I love! I also have a 07' Mazdaspeed 3 back in the states.

I just recently installed a full exhaust, downpipe, midpipe, and catback, all for about $280. I have a wideband a/f, water temp, and oil pressure gauges coming any day. The car came with a HKS Boost Controller and turbo timer. Has some 17" Enkei Circular deep dish rims powder coated gold, coilovers, after market intercooler piping, and aluminum AST. I am slowly learning all that I can about the rotary and this car, it looks sexy, drives and handles like a dream. Sad to say I am most likely going to have to do a rebuild soon, because after doing my first oil change and going through coolant I have found a bit of thick white crap in the oil filler tube. Any advice would be appreciated! |

I was stationed in Okinawa Nov 2000 to Nov 2003. A buddy of mine from over there that got me more into rotaries is back over there now as a civilian, Armando Fox is his name. He hasn't been doing cars for years but if you can find him I'm sure he could help you out. I think he's working with the Marines over there. |

If "going through coolant" means your coolant level is going down, you have an external or internal leak somewhere, and will need to find out where. Hopefully something external & simple like a leaky hose or water pump seal. If it's internal, you're looking at a rebuild. |

Thank you for the information! I am still learning as much I can about this car, and there seems to be a lot of quirks that come along with this car. You described it perfect as white/brownish crud in the oil filler tube. I also am having a vacuum problem as most people see -15, and mine is typically -8 to -10. I am going to do some more research and try and trace down the crank vent tubes. Do you know of any threads that deal with these issues off hand?

So far the car seems to run good, no hiccups, pulls good under boost. I just received my gauges today, so going to try and get them installed this weekend! Wideband A/F, Water Temp, Oil Pressure 20140109_180108.jpg Quote:
