Turbo vert is dead... Long live the RE Base!

Long story short, I get rid of the vert body I had since it had cancer that I didn't want to deal with, as well as a few other issues. Not to be without a project for long, I picked up a base model that a friend had owned years ago. The car started life as a maroon on maroon 4 lug. Prior to my owning it, it had had a 5 lug suspension installed.

Currently, the car has the following mods completed:

Engine/Driveline
Stock 13B-RE using FC3S.org mounts
Haltech E6K
60-1 turbo .70 front and .84 divided hot side
Custom divided manifold designed by Elliot @ Turblown
Twin 44mm Tial wastegates
Custom V mount intercooler setup using:
Godspeed intercooler
Shook Motorsports radiator
50mm Tial BOV
3" exhaust with Magnaflow resonator and Flowmaster muffler
550/1600cc injectors
Walbro fuel pump

Body/Wheels/Styling
B-Wave front bumper with custom lighting
TII side skirts
Rotary Extreme diffuser
Shine Sexy Style Hood
RE Amemiya AW7 wheels

The car is currently being painted by a buddy of mine. We're doing Azure Brilliance Mica (Infini IV color paint code VQ). Here are a couple of shots of the RX-8 shift knob painted as a test swatch.

More pics of where I started from and how I got where I am coming soon!

Mike, I would have been, but I had work. 13 hour shifts suck when you have things like this waiting for you at home!

OK. A couple of pics from shortly after I got her running. I didn't really take many pics before that. Just imagine the body you see with nothing under the hood and with no transmission or exhaust.

Thinking about bringing my old badging back...

Showing off the RE-A AW7 wheels. I had to get rid of the crappy stretched tires on them. Running 205s on 8" and 235 on 9" isn't my thing.

Figuring out my lighting setup

The last time this paint scheme saw the light of day...

Here we go!

Ugh... Shooting the base over white parts led to a brief moment of anxiety. LOL

Base coat done!

I cleaned these up while Chris sprayed the car.

Full shot

Keep in mind that as I type this, I have yet to see the car in person in anything but fluorescent light. Tomorrow is going to rock.

I have a few things to take care of, including:

Finish mounting lights
Install the diffuser
Decide if I want to stay slickback or add a wing
Install front turn signals (European style with the white running lights)
Fab covers for the headlights
Determine what foglight setup for the lower lights
Change THIS interior! I'm thinking about a black and tan, but not 100% sure just yet.

Finally, I have to give thanks to Chris Cawood for taking care of everything for the repaint. He did an amazing job!

I liked that color, looks really good on that body. Black interior would look the best probably...

DJ, that's odd. I don't think anyone else is having that problem. Maybe it's a TN thing? LOL.

SERIOUSLY, though, try looking at the pictures directly on my site: http://www.relephotography.com/Vehic...8690981_PpkW5v

Ah, figured out why. The site hosting the pics is blocked as Spam by our filter.

I will have to check again at home.
