I got pulled over yesterday.
Light turned yellow, I was going to be blocking the intersection so I made a right instead. I did it, and accelerated away. the tires chirped, you know, when you turn and accelerate the rear makes noise. Well, there was a cop right there and he pulled me over.
Asked for all the stuff. Asks why I turned like that. Went on about how a 2500lb vehicle is hard to control especially when the tires break loose like I had done earlier. I told him I didn't wanna block the intersection so a I made the right. "it was a bad judgment call on my part."
He went on about how I'm not mario andretti and you never know when the tires are going to lose grip. Told me it was a 2 point violation, car could have been impounded and a $700 fine but he'd let me go.
No ticket.
So, here is the real point of this post. I always make sure the cop sees my hands at all times ( I say it makes them feel safer and not so

) and he when he asked for my license I told him I'd have to reach into my jacket to get it since I thought it was in the breast pocket. You know, the breast pocket, where cops freak out and

.
My wife says I didn't need to say: "I have to reach into my pocket to get it" and wait until he said "go ahead and get it." She says it's weird and unnecessary since he asked for the ID already.
I say I'd rather make sure he knows and allows me to reach into a pocket than be shot at. Who is right? I''m still glad no ticket was issued.
