So yesterday @ KDR was............... interesting. Bill came up which was really cool and his FE put down some really nice numbers for a bone stock 8, I'll let him fill you in on the details as I was only there for one pull. In my sleep deprived state I got lost on the backroads and ended up driving through cornfields, litterally.

I am now referring to my Most Ungrateful Mistriss as a Dyno Queen. Why you ask? Because every time we go to the dyno, we strap her down and she just sits there, all day, on her thrown doing nothing.
So we strap her down and the conversation with Dave goes like this,
What do ya wanna do Bri?
Obligitory compression test of course.
You really wanna know?
I think so..... if somethings off I'd like to know before we chunk the motor.
Good point, ok lets see what we get.

Front rotor was perfect - 115 on all three faces. Rear was like 120, 120, 120, 120, 88, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 88, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 88, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 125, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 120, 88. Sticking apex seal Not every revolution mind you, ever third or forth it would hang up just a touch and miss. The fear Dave had is the seal will get stuck out as it crosses the minor axis and shear off, chunking the entire rear. So we bullshat the rest of the day until it was time to leave, then Dave tells me,
Get this piece of shit outta my shop, I wanna go home and run my dozer So Bill and I left and had lunch and dealt with all the country bumkin stares and comments as two rotaries pulled into a very locals type place that Dave sent us to for food.

So now the plan is to pull the engine, clamp the int plate to the front plate so nothing shifts in the front, pull the rear rotor and find what we think is a sticking corner seal thats holding the Apex seal up. I do remember when I was clearancing the rotors that one corner seal wouldn't pop up ever time. I moved it to a different corner and the seal was fine, this tells me the recess in the rotor itself is a little off. So I grabbed a different corner seal and tried that. Better, but not perfect. So I worked that recess until I was happy. Apparently not enough. Oh well.... Bill made a good point, it's not a rebuild so we can't call it engine 5, we're calling it 4.5 Hopefully I'll get it done this week and I'll be back @ KDR next Sat
