Good choice, the 12A is bullet proof for the most part. If you want to keep it simple I would
go with 12A FBs, not SAs. With an SA (79-80) you will have a lot of unobtanium parts that
will need serviced or replaced. The best FB in my opinion is the 82-3 12A FB, lightest
flywheel and rotating mass (82) and also the lightest chassis of all the 1st gens I think. The
83 divide in the year and have drive shaft differences but can come with a factory LSD as
well.

Personally I like SA, because they were the first iteration.

I think your funding sounds ok to get a nice running example and then make it road
worthy.
