Dave, I bet your J-spec engines have NO intermediate plates and the end plates are nitrided with a thick rib at the rear upper dowel pin, and lack an oil pressure sender hole. 18 tension bolts, right? Or maybe you have a couple of late model(?) really nice R5 13Bs that have tall ported intermediate plates, nitrided, high volume oil pump (17.5mm) and also lack an oil pressure sender hole. These have a thinner curved rib at the dowel pin, short oil filter pedestal and 17 tension bolts.

The first rotary I ever rebuilt was one of these late model R5 13Bs with the curved rib. I have a soft spot for these. I need a heart shaped smilie.

Looks like that engine above was pressure washed, then allowed to sit. That's always bad news because water always finds a way in. Notice there isn't any oil grime collected in the usual places? And the paint appears to have been blasted off. Yeah, it's been pressure washed. Good luck with that engine sen2. Does it still turn freely?
