Hmm, does it make the sound with the tranny in neutral and the car idling? or with the clutch engaged in any gear with the car idling?
Or is it only while driving in gear you can hear it?
A couple of tests to do would be (presuming its makign it while driving) to get it going down the road and making the noise, then pull it out of gear and see if it goes away, or push in the clutch and see if it goes away. That will narrow down the possibilities.
But yeah, check the fluids as well.
