New Oil Cap- Designing NOW!
Okay folks, this will be a first! Usually I come up with product ideas randomly and jot them down on paper and the machinery starts to roll...and BAM I get an oil cap.
A few people have emailed me and and asked if I offered any other oil caps, because they didn't like the shape or finish of the current one I have. Usually I would say "Too Bad, so sad! Buy a Keychain!!" j/k So I've started this thread to get some comments and ideas for the next one. So what does this mean for you? You get to voice your opinions/ideas, and if your little creative element gets implemented into the final product, I'll send you a FREE ONE. Yeah, I'm that nice! So get your thinking caps on! -Andy |
How about removing some of the material in the center section to give the inner gears a more real look.
Also how about a satin black rotor cap with chrome detailing. Like the reverse of your aluminum cap. FYI, I got a bunch of your keychains. My mom got me 3 for an xmas gift like 2 years ago. 2 keychains were the wrong ones. She called to exchange them and you sent out the right ones and told her to keep the wrong ones too. Thanks you rock! :icon_tup: |
some ideas i have
rotor shape oil cap with the autobots logo. id buy one. maybe a rotor shape with repu sa,fb,fc,fd and rx8 on them(not all of them on the same one) one's that have the motor model on them ie 12a 13b ect and a funny one for when piston guys ask whats a rotor. on the rotor it says dumb piston guy i have two of these inside(ok not funny) is there any way you could make the rotor spin, like you tighten it with a Allen(sp?) key. and you can flick it and the rotor will spin. um i think the ones you sell are fine by the way. |
I know some of the caps require t/b elbow removal so if you could make it smaller it would be better.
|
I kind of agree with arts.. I've seen some that are too big to use on an FD>
|
Some of my ideas along with others: Rotor shape and maybe have it in anodized colors with chrome accents and or the entire cap in chrome like the current one. I also like the idea of offerring it with repu sa,fb,fc,fd and rx8 on top to choose from and or also the motor model number 12a 13b etc. Another would be Rotor shape with Renesis kinda like the engine cover on the 8. Or like your patch with the Rotor with no piston symbol in it.

How about the new 40th anniversary logo on top of the rotor? Anyone feeling that?
Yes, I think this NEW Oil Cap will have a max width of about 50mm, maybe even less like 45mm. Would you like the thickness to be scaled correctly or maybe just 10mm thick? |
Just make the same design smaller so that it works on the FD better, As it is now I have to remove the strut bar for access.
|
What I think would be cool is to put the "generations" on the rotor faces of the oil cap
Side one: FB 1979-1985 Side two: FC 1986-1992 Side Three: FD 1993-1995 then on the top just have the 40th AE log on the top... IMO that would be just AWSOME.. You could have the stuff on the faces engraved, embosed,or stickied on. |
yea great idea spooled. and i also agree on just making smaller.
|
you forgot about sa 78-80 rx7
can some one post a pic of the 40th AE log |
Well dang it I need a new oil cap for my turbo engine I just built before I swap it in...
so hopefully I win and u make my design and I get a free one lol |
Interesting idea Dave...
(what if the RX-8 guys complain? lol) |
well make an RX8 cap lol....
I mean honestly I think the main focus should be about the "7" the rx8 has become its own deal.. some 7 owners despize the 8 and alot of 8 guys I have met in person cant stand the 7.... If there is another way to incorporate the 8 into it that would be cool.. but remember there will be a 9 in what a year maybe 2 I have other ideas but I would spend all day typing them in here lol... |
What about doing that design on the faces but for the RX8 guys have an optional one that has the RX8 logo on the top instead of AE on it...
I mean if u do a stickable decal that should be an easy low cost alternative |
